About Us
The High Plains Society for Applied Anthropology is a regional
professional organization of university and college teachers, students,
practitioners (government, private, consulting, etc.), community
representatives, and others interested in using the tools of
anthropology and related fields to solve human and environmental
problems. While founded and based in the High Plains region of
the United States (a vast area encompassing the eastern Rocky Mountains
and western Great Plains), we have members from throughout North
America and the world. We share knowledge and build professional and
personal connections through an annual conference and other meetings; a
professional, peer-reviewed journal (The Applied Anthropologist); an electronic newsletter and listservs; and this website.
